We’ll familiarize with the challenges of winter paddling and how we manage to paddle in cold conditions securely and enjoyable. During the course, we’ll learn how to navigate in ice. During the course, you’ll also learn basic paddling skills. The course covers two days.

The planning of the course well be conducted together the first day, taking into consideration the actual ice condition and the level of the participants. The next day we’ll practise rescue operations among ice. We do not presuppose earlier paddling skills. We’ll learn about the importance of paddling equipment and how they work best in different circumstances. Winter paddling will be enjoyable when you have enough basic skills and equipments that suits you.

The course can hold maximum 7 persons (If you are a bigger group, who want to come together, please contact us) in that we can guarantee personal and qualitative training.

Course content:

  • Learn how to move among ice and on top of ice
  • Learn to recognise safe conditions and avoid conditions, that can lead to challenging situations.
  • Learn forwarding paddling in open water and in ice.
  • Rescue training among ice (for those who want)

During the course you’ll learn the most important basic skills for security and skills that make paddling tours enjoyable.

Weekend program:

  • We meet the first day at 10:00 hrs. We’ll go through equipment and plan together the course content.
  • We’ll go through the equipment for winter paddling and done dry suits for the day’s trainings
  • Trainings starts at about 11:30 hrs
  • During the day we’ll have coffee and lunch breaks at convenient intervals. (Bring with you appropriate lunch and warm drinks)
  • We’ll end the day at about 16:30
  • The next day we’ll meet at 10:00 hrs
  • The course ends at 16:00 hrs

We’ll paddle in dry suits (dry suits are included equipments, that you receive at the start of course)

Bring with you for the course:

  • Under the dry suit you’ll need warm clothing. Wool works well. Clothes can get moist/wet and extra clothing is good to bring with.
  • Bring some snacks to eat. A thermos with hot drink and lunch provisions is also preferable.
  • You’ll need a warm pause jacket, a beanie or other wind stopping headgear.
  • Sun glasses and sunscreen

The courses are held for groups at separately agreed times. (at least three participants) To courses found in the calendar you can sign up alone or with a friend.
